Is a Labradoodle for everyone? No. Due to the high intelligence, Labradoodles require a lot of mental stimulation and challenge. They are extremely smart and need to feel challenged or they will become bored. The result of boredom is a variety of undesirable behaviors such as; barking, chewing and digging. Doodles are very social animals that thrive on companionship. They need to feel that they are part of their "pack" (the family unit). |
What is the difference between "hypo-allergenic" and "allergy friendly"? The term "hypo-allergenic" means completely non-reactive for allergy sufferers. No dog is completely "hypo-allergenic". There are some dogs however, who tend to be more "allergy friendly". People who suffer from allergies and asthma tend to be more tolerant of dogs that have coats that resemble human hair. The Labradoodle is one of these breeds, although even among Labradoodles there is quite a variation in coats. It is important to work closely with the breeder in determining the right coat for you. Are Doodles good with children? By their nature, Labradoodles are very friendly, non-aggressive, loving and loyal. Remember though, as puppies, doodles exhibit all of the behaviors that you might expect from young, un-trained dogs such as; nipping, jumping and chewing. That's why training is absolutely necessary to help your puppy learn how to behave within the household. It is also important to teach children how to interact with puppies/dogs in insure the safety of everyone involved. If your family has never lived with a dog or raised a puppy before attempting to do so when you have small children it may not be the best choice for your family or the puppy. |
What size will the puppies be when they are grown? Standard Size: Height 21-29" and Weight 50-100 lbs Medium Size: Height 17-20" and Weight 35-60 lbs. Miniature Size: Height 14-16" and Weight Up to 40 lbs * Please note that males are larger than females and there is a size variance within each litter of puppies with some being larger than other. Also when breeding down slowly and carefully you will have mediums in a miniature litter. The above description is not exact as Labradoodles are a hybrid of 2 or more Purebred parentage. What colors do you expect? Only Mother Nature knows. We have a variety of colors though black is the dominant color. Each time a new litter arrives it's a little like Christmas! We cannot predict what colors we will have in a certain litter. |
What type of coat do the puppies have? That is what's so much fun about these dogs. In one litter you may have one or two curlier coated puppies that will develop into curly coated dogs, and there could be others which start off as curly, but when they drop their fluffy baby coat at around 8 months if age can develop a wiry coat, which will shed more. Some grow up to look very similar to a Labrador retriever with a few whiskery hairs around the face and legs. Curly/wavy coats appear in each litter, just as there are different coat types in many other breeds. Which gender - male or female is better? Deciding on which gender to get depends on your own wants. Both genders make wonderful pets - if they are spayed or neutered. In my experience, both genders display the same loving and humourous personality. When can you spay/neuter a puppy? Never spay or neuter a puppy before it's 6 months old. If they are fixed before 5 months of age the puppy loses vital hormones, which it needs to develop. Without these hormones your puppy will not develop the bone and muscle mass it needs to be healthy. Spaying or neutering should never be done before 6 months of age to insure the dog's health. Why should we buy a puppy from you? We love our dogs. Each family member has his or her favorite. We take great pride in our puppies and our puppies reflect the time, love and attention given to each one. When you are happy you will tell others about us. We have received numerous emails from people who have bought their puppies from another breeder only to find that when they had a question the breeder had become silent. Many breeders consider their job done once the puppy has been purchased. Not us! We provide ongoing support for our puppy families and also provide a rehome policy in our Health Guarantee for each and every puppy from Luv-a-Doodle. Please note that we reserve the right nor to sell a puppy if we feel it is not in the best interest of the puppy. Are the puppies registered? Yes, we register our puppies through the ACHC (American Canine Hybrid Club) because they are a mixed breed and cannot be registered with the AKC (American Kennel Club). However, most of our parents are purebred and AKC registered or are decendants of AKC purebred Labrador Retrievers and Poodles. Families who have purchased a puppy from us will receive a copy of their puppy's parent's registration and Pedigree along with the puppy's ACHC registration papers once proof that the puppy has been spayed or neutered. |
What is so special about the puppies from Luv-a-Doodle? We do not just breed and raise the puppies until they are at the age where they are ready to go to their new homes. There is hours upon hours spent socializing, crate training, housebreaking and beginning obedience training that we do before the puppies ever leave our home. We also perform the Bio-Sensor program on each and every puppy we raise because many benefits have been shown in puppies who have gone through this program than puppies who have not. Our main concern is that you will receive a puppy that is already well on its way to becoming a wonderful family or working companion for its forever family. Do you offer a Health Guarantee? Yes, All of our puppies are sold with a 2 Year Genetic Health Guarantee and lifetime support. We are always there to answer any questions you might have in the future. Our interest in the pup does not end when they leave us. We also understand that circumstances can arise and the family sometimes has to make the difficult decision to rehome the puppy. We at Luv-a-Doodle offer a Rehome policy to help if it is ever needed. We do not ever want to see our puppies placed in a shelter and will do everything we can to help find a loving home for them. Where are you located? We are centrally located in the beautiful state of Arkansas surrounded by pastureland and crop fields. Can we see the puppies and pick ours out? The families who have been approved and have deposits placed on a puppy will be given a chance to meet the puppies and their parents. For the first six weeks of the puppies' life we are very strict with who comes to visit. During this time the puppies are very susceptible to disease because they are so young and have not received their first shots. Once the puppies have had their first shots then the new families can come to meet them by appointment only. At this time you will be given a chance to visit with the parents of the puppies in which you are interested in. At no time will the general public be allowed to visit. This is to insure the future health of the puppies. We ask that you do not go jumping from one breeder to another to "check out" puppies. You unknowingly could be spreading a very harmful disease called Parvo, which is fatal in young pups. We apologize if this offends anyone. We do not intend for that to be the case, however our puppies' health is of great importance to us and to their future families. What is a Health Certificate? A Health Certificate is when a licensed veterinarian examines the puppy and finds he/she to be healthy and current on all shots and worming. The veterinarian completes a full examination on the puppy including a fecal examination to check for worms and also checking the coat for flea and tick infestation. A Health Certificate is required for shipping, but it expires 10 days after issued. I will set up the appointment for the Health Certificate as close as possible to shipping or delivery of the puppy as possible. I prefer to have it issued the same day as shipping, but sometimes due to a time issue it is necessary to get it the day before shipment/delivery of the puppy. Do You Offer a Rehome Policy? Yes, We understand that circumstances can arise and sometimes it is necessary to find the puppy/dog another home. We understand this and will work closely with each individual family to find another loving home for their puppy or they have the option to send the puppy back at their own expense. However, there are restrictions that must be met before we agree to take the puppy/dog back. Do you offer Shipping? Yes we do. We have 3 Options of receiving your new puppy. They are: Option 1 - Shipping I will provide shipping of the puppy within the 48 States through Delta Airlines. Shipping charges are $300.00, which includes airfare, a Health Certificate, crate, chew toy and food. Option 2 - Delivery I will meet the new family partway depending on the distance. There will be a $.40 per mile (after the first 100 miles) fee. Also if you want a Health Certificate; the cost, which I pass on to you is $30.00. Option 3 - Pick Up You can also pickup you new puppy by appointment only. There is a $25.00 crate fee if you opt to keep the crate that he/she was trained in. Also if you want a Health Certificate the cost, which I pass on to you is $35.00. When can I expect my puppy if it is being shipping via Delta Airlines? I ship my puppies the week they reach 8 weeks of age. I will notify everyone through email of the date of shipment when the puppies have reached 6 1/2 weeks. Why do the puppies cost so much? It may seem like a lot of money for a mixed breed, but our doodles are not just the result of two neighborhood dogs getting together and producing puppies. Our breeding parents are carefully selected from exceptional quality purebred AKC registered dogs that are expensive to purchase and maintain. We carefully choose our breeding parents for their personality and genetics so that the puppies will make wonderful, healthy and loving pets. We vaccinate and health check all of our puppies to ensure they are in excellent condition before they ever leave our home. Plus, we spend a great deal of time training the puppies and preparing them for their new homes. 0ur reputation rests on the health of our puppies! You may find a labradoodle for a lower price, but remember you get what you pay for. What about the deposit? You may send in the Reservation form along with a deposit of $250.00 for F1 or F1B Generation by check, money order, or Paypal. If you are sending a check please note that funds must clear before your name will be placed on the waiting list. Also if paying by Paypal please add 3% for service charges. If you have placed a deposit and there are not enough puppies, your name will go to the top of the waiting list. Please remember that after sending the deposit, should you decide not to adopt a puppy, you will forfeit your deposit. The reason for the deposit is to show your commitment to one of our puppies, if you change your mind the loss of your deposit is your penalty. Please think about it and talk it over with everyone involved BEFORE placing a reservation. If for some reason we decline a Reservation Form the Deposit will be refunded to you. ALSO: Remember that the more you require of your puppy's appearance and/or gender, the more difficulty we will have finding the right puppy and the longer the wait will be. |
